Account Recovery
In the event you lose access to your Nexus Mods account, it may be possible to regain access using one of the methods listed below.
Two-Factor Recovery
If you have enabled Two-Factor Authentication, you would have been presented with five backup codes which can be used to access your account if you no longer have access to your phone. These codes are single-use and can be regenerated by turning 2FA off and back on again in your security settings.
Mobile Number Recovery
From 1 June 2023, this option will no longer work in certain territories and will be fully retired shortly after. Read more...
All accounts have the option to add a mobile phone number which can be used by the Nexus Mods Community Team to verify you as the account owner. We recommend enabling this option if you use 2FA as it provides a reliable fallback. The option can be configured in the "Security" section of your account settings.
If you have a recovery mobile number and have lost access to your account, please contact support@nexusmods.com including the account name and email address associated with your account.
Membership Invoice
Users who have supported Nexus Mods by purchasing a Supporter or Premium membership can send a copy of an invoice to support@nexusmods.com to prove they are the account owner. Please include as much information as possible, the most important fields are:
- Date of purchase
- PayPal or bank reference number
- Full name
Note: Payments to Nexus Mods may appear on your transaction history as either "Nexus Mods" or "Black Tree Gaming Ltd".
Additional Options
If you are unable to recover your account using the methods above, it may be easiest to create a new account with your current credentials. However, in some rare cases, we can use other information on your account to verify you. To check if there are any additional options to verify your account, please contact support@nexusmods.com.
Please note: Your download history or being signed into a mod manager are not sufficient proof of account ownership.
